Can you imagine spending almost an hour second guessing yourself and getting more and more anxious by the minute because you're scared to speak to the camera!?
A few years ago I was inspired to start a weekly live video on Facebook to share encouragement, inspiration and practical strategies for personal growth.
I felt excited about the prospect of starting this new series, after all I was a public speaker who loved to talk and share stories. In fact I regularly travelled to different cities in the UK speaking at business networking events, hosting, facilitating as well as delivering keynotes. I also had really good feedback from the audiences I presented to.
So, all things being equal I should have been confident, ready and able to make a smooth transition to speaking to audiences online. However, the reality was not what I would have imagined.
It was so unbelievable! Here I was the confident extrovert who stood on a stage in front of hundreds of people with no problem. Truth be told, I often felt more at home standing on a stage. The adrenaline, connecting with my audience, sharing strategies, inspiring others and ultimately knowing that I was making a difference
was what I was born to do. Maybe you can relate?
However no one, myself included, would have ever thought that I would lack confidence when sat down at my desk and needed to present online. Or that I would have to dig deep to pluck up the courage to hit that go live button and share my message with the world.
I was fretting and worrying about so many things that slowly started
stripping away my usual confidence when it came to speaking.
Fast track to today; I set up my recording equipment and hit that go live button with no hesitation, no nerves, no second guessing and it no longer takes me an hour to psyche myself up to speak!
It took months and months, but I learnt from my mistakes, grew in confidence and two years later I love going live, creating vides and presenting online. I enjoy and experience the same level of confidence, ease and impact as when I share with my audiences face to face at a live event.
I have now delivered over 120 live videos all thanks to the strategies I have put in place.
